Coker Tire Offers Wide Whitewall Tires with Modern Handling
Coker Tire Company built a reputation for supplying the collector car market with hard-to-find tires that are truly authentic to the era that the vehicle was produced. In the early days of the company’s efforts, all wide whitewall tires were built in bias ply construction. While this construction style is period correct, the handling characteristics of a bias ply tire leaves much to be desired, compared to a modern radial. This led Coker Tire to invent the world’s first wide whitewall radial, back in 1995.
The Coker Classic radial is still going strong after many revisions and refinements during its near 30-year existence. During this time, Coker Tire has listened to its customers to create a great selection of sizes and whitewall widths. The current Coker Classic radial offerings include radial sizes that provide fitment on many 1940’s, 1950’s and 1960’s American automobiles. Additionally, the Coker Classic radial line offers fitment for vintage Volkswagen Beetle, as well as staggered fitments for hot rods, customs and classic trucks.
Sizing for the Coker Classic radial product line includes 195/75R14, 205/75R14, 215/75R14, 225/75R14, 165R15, 205/75R15, 215/75R15, 225/75R15 and 235/75R15, providing original and custom fitments for a wide range of cars and trucks. Whitewall widths range from 2-1/4 inches to 3-1/8 inches, depending on the tire size.
Coker Classic radials are also available to fit early Fords, using 16-inch wheels. The Coker Classic 16-inch radial features a squared-off shoulder for the vintage look and comes in bias ply sizing for easy cross referencing. These tires are available in 550R16, 600R16, 650R16, 700R16 and 750R16, and come in wide whitewall and black sidewall configurations. Whitewall widths range from 2-3/4 inches to 4 inches.
